Wayne Follman turned into shredded cheese in lathe accident at Acme Industries in Elk Grove Village, IL

A man died Wednesday after he became trapped in a machine at an Elk Grove Village plant where he worked.

The worker became caught in a power lathe, a machine that spins quickly to shape or cut products including metal and wood, at an Acme Industries location on Chase Avenue, said Scott Allen, spokesman for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

The employee, a 50-year-old man, died before police and fire officials arrived at the business about 11:45 a.m., Elk Grove Village police said in a statement.

The man was identified as Wayne Follman, of the 300 block of Pyott Road in Lake in the Hills, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office, although police said the man lived in Elk Grove Village.
